Course overview
Our first aid and emergency care programmes are delivered in line with PHECC standards and Irish Heart Foundation guidelines, supporting workplaces, communities, sports organisations and individuals across Ireland. Courses are available in person or through blended learning, depending on certification requirements.
Delivery and certification
Courses are delivered by experienced instructors and can be arranged:
- On-site at your workplace or organisation
- At designated training venues
- As blended learning where permitted
Certification is issued in line with PHECC and Irish Heart Foundation requirements.
First aid response (FAR)
The First Aid Response course qualifies participants to act as a Certified Occupational First Aider and to administer first aid care in the workplace.
This course meets legal requirements under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Regulations 2007 and is suitable for organisations across all sectors.
Emergency and basic first aid courses
These one-day courses provide participants with the essential skills required to administer first aid at home, at work or in community settings.
They are ideal for individuals seeking a practical introduction to first aid or for organisations requiring basic emergency preparedness.
Paediatric first aid training
The First Aid Response course qualifies participants to act as a Certified Occupational First Aider and to administer first aid care in the workplace.

First aid response recertification/refresher training
The First Aid Response Recertification/Refresher training is available to participants who currently hold a valid PHECC FAR Certificate.
It supports revalidation and ensures continued compliance with HSA and PHECC guidance, reinforcing practical skills and emergency readiness.
AED training
AED training provides learners with the knowledge and confidence to safely use an Automated External Defibrillator in emergency situations.
This course can be delivered as a standalone module or combined with CPR and first aid training.
CFR (cardiac first response) training – community level
This course is designed for individuals working or volunteering within community groups or organisations.
Delivered in accordance with PHECC guidelines, it prepares participants to provide CPR and defibrillation support while awaiting emergency services.
Sports first aid and AED training
Sports first aid and AED training is aimed at coaches, volunteers and support staff working in sporting environments.
The course addresses sport-specific injuries and emergency response scenarios.
Transition year first aid course
Transition Year first aid courses are delivered in-house at schools and youth settings across Ireland.
These programmes are specifically designed for Transition Year students and focus on practical skills, confidence and safety awareness.
Cardiac first response – advanced (CFR-A)
This is a PHECC-certified course, delivered in partnership with UFAS. The programme follows Irish Heart Foundation standards and focuses on CPR and defibrillation skills for community and workplace responders.
It is suitable for organisations seeking recognised IHF and PHECC certification, ensuring compliance with national standards and best practice in emergency response training.
Irish Heart Foundation Heartsaver course
The Irish Heart Foundation Heartsaver course provides practical CPR and AED training for workplaces, community groups and organisations across Ireland. Designed to build confidence in responding to cardiac emergencies, this course equips participants with the essential skills needed to act quickly and effectively when every second counts.
It is suitable for workplaces, voluntary organisations, community groups and members of the public.
Oxygen therapy training
The Oxygen Therapy Course is a focused, practical programme designed for healthcare professionals who are required to administer oxygen safely and effectively in clinical and pre-hospital settings.
Training is delivered by experienced EMTs and Paramedics with real-world frontline experience.
PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) Instructor Course
The PHECC First Aid Response (FAR) Instructor Course prepares learners to deliver nationally recognised First Aid Response training in workplaces, communities, and training centres throughout Ireland.
this structured two-day programme develops instructional competence, adult learning techniques, and professional delivery skills aligned with PHECC requirements.
PHECC Cardiac First Response (CFR) Advanced Instructor Course
The PHECC Cardiac First Response (CFR) Advanced Instructor Course is designed to equip learners with the knowledge, practical skills, and instructional competence required to deliver CFR Advanced training to the highest professional standard.
This instructor programme combines theory-based learning with structured, hands-on teaching practice.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Course
The BLS Instructor Course with First Aid Coaching is designed for healthcare professionals who wish to become certified instructors in Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR and AED training at healthcare provider level.
This programme follows the standards of the Irish Heart Foundation and the American Heart Association and is delivered by experienced IHF Faculty.
