Childcare settings and youth reach programmes carry a duty of care that never lets up, and that includes keeping first aid certification current. The First Aid Response Refresher (FARR) course renews PHECC First Aid Response certification for staff whose qualification is expiring or has recently expired, and we run it on site for teams across Leinster, Cork city and surrounding areas.
Book your team's FARR trainingWhat is the FARR course?
FARR is a PHECC recognised recertification course for workplace first aiders who already hold a current or recently expired First Aid Response certificate. It revises patient assessment, cardiac response, medical emergencies, injury management, shock, unconscious patient care, burns, hypothermia and hyperthermia, incident reporting, communication and responder wellbeing. Renewal normally needs to happen within 30 days of the certificate expiring, so timing the refresher matters.
Why it matters for childcare and youth reach teams
Children and young people get hurt in ordinary, everyday ways, a fall in the yard, a burn in the kitchen, a choking incident at snack time, and staff need to be confident responding, not just certified on paper. Keeping FAR certification current also supports compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Regulations 2007, which is a standing obligation for any childcare or youth service employer.
On-site group refresher training
Rather than sending staff off site individually, we bring a PHECC accredited instructor to your location and refresh the whole team together. This keeps the training consistent, minimises time away from the children and young people in your care and works around your service’s own schedule.
